I had a similar experience with brewing methods.
I was at the in-laws for the weekend, but I brought along a HWP
roasted batch of Peru Chanchamayo that I had roasted Friday evening.
I normally make non-espresso coffee in the Cona that I got from Tom in
April, but had to use their drip coffee maker. I know the flavor was
in there some where, but it just had trouble showing itself!
I was reminded just how much better the vac-pot brew is than an
inadequate drip machine.

This is exactly why I kept the packing box for my Bodum Santos. When I go
to the in-laws, I bring it with me. They've gotten used to my quirkiness,
and really enjoy the coffee and the process.

At the time, I only had a Cona D. Not exactly portable, even though I
do still have the box. I've now got a larger capacity stainless steel
vac-pot that would travel sufficiently well that I will probably take
next time.
