Topic: Tom's take on drip machines Was:+New DeLonghi BAR32 Espresso Machine (5 msgs / 91 lines)

I don't know if Tom's article about drip machines in Tiny Joy was already
discussed since I'm a relative newcomer:
One thing about that article - Tom only mentions the Technivorm as a machin=
e
that gets up to the proper temp. Maybe that's because Technivorms are what
he sells, I don't know but I was wondering if Tom is unaware of other
machines that get up to the proper temperature and make good coffee. My
Presto Scandinavian does as does the Capresso MT500. Also I found that the
Melitta something or other that my father purchased recently also gets up t=
o
200 degrees and makes very good coffee. I think that while Tom has a great
point about the Brauns, Mr. Coffees and Krups junk of the world he was
short-changing some of the other good drip machines. While I do believe
that the technivorm is tops, it's possible to have excellent daily drip
coffee from something other than the Technivorm.

The Melitta of my father's that I'm referring to is not a Clarity. It's
just a standard Melitta with cone filter. It may be a Fastbrew but it look=
s
slightly different from the current Fastbrews on their website so it could
be the last generation. He just recently bought it though. I measured tem=
p
at the head two days ago and it gets up to 200 degrees, although I didn't
calibrate my parents' thermometer that I used.

Then the news from Melitta is good. Hopefully, ALL of that model makes 200
deg brew water! I had worried about what to do when my Clarity dies.
