Topic: Thermos Cleaning/Denture tablet (9 msgs / 165 lines)
1) From: Greg C. Rose
I ran across this comment on the Net that said denture tablets work good for
cleaning coffee thermoses. Anyone here try that? If so, how good is it
really? I'd be interested in hearing comments on other tricks to use....
Thanks,
Greg

Don't know about denture tablets.
For my SS thermos, I useCleanCaf (available from SweetMaria's). 1/2
packet, add hot water, close, shake, vent slightly and let sit. Dump
and rinse thoroughly.
CleanCaf is just great. I use it for thermoses, presspots, carafes,
and roasting equipment. Just does a great job of cleaning anything
coffee related. It doesn't descale, though. I don't think.

Haven't used that technique. I usually use Cafiza these days. In
the past I have used Oxyclean and it worked great (and is a good deal
cheaper than the specialty cleaners).

Be sure to rinse it out carefully.... any leftover denture cleaner might
really have a bite.

An odd idea, but it's sure worth a try - after all:

Greg,
I haven't used it for a thermos, but I do use them to clean our toothbrushe=
s every week or so. It just makes them feel cleaner to use.
I have an old Nissan stainless steel "thermos" and have used a little chlor=
ine bleach on the inside with warm water. That works, although I would rath=
er find something different than chlorine.

I use Oxyclean and a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser for the stubborn stuff.
Both are amazing.
