Topic: iRoast2 - temp control revisited (26 lines)
1) From: Aaron Peterson
Lately, I've been running my roasts as the iRoast2 is set up to
deliver them. But when my TC shows my chosen ending temperature I use
an oven mit and remove the lid on the chaff collector. This blows
chaff everywhere, and I usually poke the loose round silver part of
the chaff collector to make sure it expels all the chaff possible.
I've found this is easy enough to clean up with a vacuum cleaner hose
or shop vac.
This has the effect of stalling the temperature (sometimes dropping
5-10 degrees F). I usually let the temperature stall for 30 seconds
to a minute before replacing the lid and hitting cool. For darker
roasts I use this procedure twice. Once around 435 to even things out
around C-C+ before moving on, and then again at my chosen ending
temperature.
I seem to be getting very desirable results this way... and it
doesn't require much attention.
