I decided to roast up a pound of my Gethumbwini last night. In my RK drum roasts, I've often dumped before ever hearing second crack. So, in pursuit of finding this illusive second crack, I left the heat on when first crack started. I did reduce it, but not near as much as I have been. 2-3 minute= s later, second crack did start. I killed the heat and went to dump the drum to stop the roast. The pin was being difficult, so I struggled to pull the door pin as my Gethumbwini hit a rapid second crack. I dumped, but I think I ended up with somewhere around vienna. 12 hours later, a tiny bit of oil can be seen on a bean or two. I'm hoping I didn't roast out all the good flavor of this coffee. It would be a shame to have ruined it. Wes
60 hours rest, a little more oil...Brewed a pot in the KMB this morning: charred with very little actual flavor. I'll be giving it away or throwing it away..... On 4/25/06, Wesley Simon wrote: <Snip> m <Snip> it <Snip> k <Snip> tes <Snip> um <Snip> he <Snip> nk <Snip> il <Snip>
I hate it when that happens. I've lost about 6-8 lb in the last year to flaming roasts... We are addicted to this game, that's what it is! I just keep going back and clicking "place order" Brett On 4/26/06, Wesley Simon wrote: <Snip> ng <Snip> n <Snip> first <Snip> 2-3 <Snip> ump <Snip> d to <Snip> , but <Snip> y bit <Snip> the <Snip> -- Regards, Brett Mason HomeRoast Zassman

Here I was minding my own business this AM when I received an e-mail from one of suppliers about their new Jamaica Blue. I was interested so I went to the website and what should happen? No I was able to resist the Blue (a= t $26/lb) but I couldn't help myself. Before I was done I had clicked "Place Order" and now have another few lbs coming my way. It is like an addiction= .
