Some of the feedback to my previous thread "green varieties" got me thinking. How does someone on a tight budget experience a wide range of coffee flavors affordably? This is in no way meant to be condesending. I'm just tend to be somewhat analytical by nature and love coffee! First assumption. Sweet Maria's currently has 34 different greens priced less than $6 per pound, of these over 15 are less than $5 per pound. Offerings will of course vary yet this seems to be representative. For this example let's assume 3# of greens will be roasted per month. 3# would cost less than $20. Instead of buying the needed 3# of greens buy 4#, now spending alittle over $20 but less than $25. Through the course of the month roast 3/4# of each of the 4 different greens which would equal the needed 3#. You now have 1/4# left of 4 different greens. Month 2 buy 4# different greens. Again roasting 3/4# of each and setting the remaining 1/4# of each aside. End of month you have last months 4 varieties plus this months 4 varieties making 8 different greens. Continue this pattern and by month 8 you will have tried 32 different green varietals and have 32 different green varietals on hand all for less than $25 per month. Just a thought!
