Sorry about your heat.    It's 98 at 6 pm here.  As for the beans, mine were
dry (no oil), but I really can't tell you how to judge the color.  I don't
remember that particular roast but I can tell you that in general Sumatrans
hold their heat better than other beans - In my kitchen, if I remember
correctly, they won't look as dark as most others at the same temp/time, and
I generally like my Sumatrans near or into second crack.  Also, inter-alp
variation is huge, 0.2 weight oz (perhaps half a TBSP) makes a noticeable
difference in roast outcome, and any wind outdoors will affect things as
well.  Tell me how you like your beans after a day or more of rest.  One
minute 19 sec past first crack isn't very much.  Might want to lower the
volume a bit, or switch to weight, which really will help your
reproduceability - not that you can get it perfect, and maybe not even close
depending on circumstances.  But weight will give you a more reproduceable
amount of beans, at least.  Now that I put a screen around my alp, I'm
starting over as to how many beans I need to start with.
