Topic: Chemex Arrived - Time for Questions! (2 msgs / 49 lines)
1) From: Jason Brooks
Well, my most recent order arrived. 13# of greens and a 50oz Chemex with
filters. Here's the first question for all the Chemex gurus.
Can I effectively make, say 36 oz of coffee without loss of quality in a
50 oz Chemex? I would think yes, but want to make sure. One of the
reasons I dove in for this is the ability to make larger volumes of coffee
- my FP is on 32 oz. But the flavor discussion I've read recently made me
take the plunge.
Thanks,
Jason

I can't see any problems. That sounds like the right amount of coffee
for that size Chemex, anyway. You wouldn't really be able to get the
bottom half of the flask that full without sacrificing temperature or
quality. It just seems you'd end up with overextracted coffee with
that much water.
