David when I had my ALP I installed a 13" turkey Fryer Thermometer measuring 
correctly so it would be dead center of the drum and drill the hole just big 
enought that the probe would slide thru tightly and used the clip to keep in 
in place.

       Hardware about 14 bucks goes up to 700 >degrees, and will reach 
all the = way to the doors on the >Alpenrost, I will set it to reach back 
about = 3/4 the length of >the drum. I may do a roast tonight and record the 
= temps >and report back. I did 2 roast, the first was Uganda AA Budadiri, 
the 2nd Columbian = Supremo. both full city+ 3m5 6m(0 9m50 12m 
15D0 18G0 hit cool button 18:15 1st crack was at 14:15 at 425 2nd crack 
was at 17:10 at 460 stopped roast at 18:15 at 470 temp at bean dump 160 
under cool it droped 120 deg. 1st min @280 2nd min @200, 3rd min @160 Beans 
dumped The ramp is consisdent withing 5 degrees. so it is easy to duplicate 
= roasts. 25 batches and still consistent. Im happy with the Alp, it may = 
not be the best but is a nice roaster. The Thermometer was added to see what 
was going on inside the Alp. it is = not needed, I was just curious, and 
will not be using it each time I = roast. BTW Uganda Budadiri is my favorite
