hi all -
okay, I should be on the list more now ... i finally got back from
guatemala Monday AM. I made a real lame mistake and went to the
airport in Guatemala to find they had no ticket for me. After a long
nervous wait they found out I did have a ticket ... for the next day.
Oops - you know how you lose track of days/dates when you travel too
much. Anyway, I am back and spent most of monday roasting green
samples I brought with me, and ones that arrived while I was gone for
2 weeks. Lotsa cupping today! I guess most of you hear about the
Panama auction results. Pretty crazy (and I am the first to agree
with that!) But as a group we felt like this Gesha lot was really
special, as were all the top 3. In fact, the last table in the Panama
auction was simply incredible. When we get the coffee in the
warehouse, my plan is to offer a set of 1 lb each of the top 3 lots.
I guess we will just have to see how it goes. The others in our
group, Intelligentsia, Stumptown, Groundworks and Kaffa all felt like
they would have no trouble offering the coffee at these prices so....
it's a big experiment I guess. Anyway, I will keep you all posted on
this, and in fact I will try to announce it on the list when the
coffee is available before I put it on the web site. ok?
NOw, to the cupping table!
Tom

Welcome home Tom! None of us would mind if you took a day off away
from the shop with Maria! Thanks again to both of you for your

Tom,
Let me be the millionth person to thank you for your hard work and
dedication to the pursuit of excellence. It shows that you truly have a
love for what you do and judging by your product, talent as well. Your
judgement and service have made my venture into homeroasting very rewarding,
and from what I hear from older-timers, I have it a lot easier than they did
when they started thanks to folks like you.
