Topic: Solis Maestro Plus upgrade kit (5 msgs / 88 lines)
1) From: Rich Adams
Baratza is offering a free upgrade kit for the Solis Maestro Plus.
"The improvments are:
More than double the strength of the "hopper tabs"- The hopper tabs on the
adjusting ring have been increased in their thickness to more than double
the earlier ring. This makes the tabs almost unbreakable insuring that
further replacement of the ring will be unnecessary.
Coarse grind adjustment increased by 1.1mm- The range of grind has been
modified resulting in the ability to grind MUCH coarser coffee, such as for
French Press. The earlier model was limited in its ability to grind coffee
ideal for press pot brewing.
Espresso grind setting matches with icons- The grind adjustment mechanism
has been modified in such a way as to allow for better correlation between
the icons on the grinder and the resulting grind. In the past the "Drip"
setting was close to an espresso grind and the "Espresso" setting was more
like Turkish.
Felt bean gasket for better coffee powder management- A felt gasket is now
fitted around the throat of the bean hopper where it meets the ring burr.
This gasket helps to minimize unwanted migration of coffee powder into the
adjusting mechanism, hence eliminating jamming of the rotating adjusting
ring. This allows for longer operational periods between cleanings.
To get a free Adjustment ring and felt gasket e-mail us with your address
and we will send it out. Send e-mail to support"

3) From: Peter Schmidt
Right after I saw this post from Rich, I e-mailed Baratza to ask about an
upgrade for my lowly Maestro.
Less than a half hour later they replied asking for my address, and they're
sending the kit out.
So if you have a Maestro, or a Maestro Plus, you're covered. Just specify
which, and include your shipping info. Great service!

Rich this is a wonderful offer from Baratza and I am glad you posted. I
have had to leave my Mastro Plus on the drip setting for over a year because
of my tabs breaking. Jared

I never broke anything on the damn grinder.
My SMP grinds well enough for my friend, Ray, who only does drip.
The bodum antigua that Hufford slipped me is doing OK for my friend, Jamie.
Don't get me started-
Cheers -RayO, aka Opa!
Got Grinder? Sure?
