Topic: Not liking espresso? (30 lines)

cue commercial theme music............"everybody doesn't like
something...."
My singing partner cannot stand coffee without half-and-half,
sweetener and preferably sugar-free flavorings--she says that
otherwise, all she can taste is the bitterness. (And she claims that
aspartame--which I just found out is the mirror image of a certain
mold toxin molecule and thus its antagonist--tastes moldy to her,
whereas I don't notice that). All but the sweetest dessert wine
tastes sour to her, though she can discern the nuances in good dark
beers and ales. And to her, chocolate has to be milk chocolate (to
me, if it ain't dark, it ain't chocolate). Not everyone has the same
number or proportion of taste buds for the four taste divisions
(sweet, salty, sour, bitter); and even stuff like nasal or sinus
congestion can affect the nature of one's sense of taste (I will not
be snobbish enough to say "ability to taste").
Now that you are aware that good espresso exists, you might want to
give it another try. But if you still don't like it, that's okay.
Doesn't make you any less sophisticated.
