I sometimes use a Filtropa single-cup mugtop drip coffee maker to make a
single cup. It is made of plastic, and is similar to other brands I've
seen, like the ones made by Melitta.

I sometimes wash it in the dishwasher. I always rinse the filter holdr =
and
the filter under the tap, using hot water, before I use it, in an =
attempt to
get rid of as much paper taste as I can.

Yesterday I noticed (not for the first time) a taste in the coffee =
strangely
reminicint of the smell of my dishwasher detergent

Some dish washing detergents don't remove the oils from cups and other
articles used with good fresh coffee. I have been to a lot of cafes that set
a cup of coffee in front of you that has the oil/soap film floating on the
top of the liquid (they call it coffee).
In the past I used baking soda to clean my coffee cups and equipment, but
lately I have started using SIMPLE GREEN. An earlier post of the history of
the product stated that it was originally formulated as a safe cleaner for
coffee roasters.
seems to be working well and with adaquate rinsing no after taste.
try it...
