Topic: Carmen Estate sabotaged my FoodSaver! (4 msgs / 81 lines)

Ok, so I've been bad mouthing the Catuai infested Carmen Estate and had
2&1/2 pounds vac bagged left from 5/05 purchase. Decided to give it one last
roast and see if maybe Carmen could change my mind. If not I'm giving the
remaining 2# away and I told it so. After roast cooling I went to vac the
mason jar dome lid when half way vac'd the motor kind of hiccuped loosing
power then picking up again! Never done it before. Hmmm, re-vac'd the same
Carmen jar and it did it again! Ah oh, my FoodSaver Pro may be dying after
"only" five years heavy use. A few minutes later I cracked open the rested
Sumatra TimTim Blangili jar to load the hopper with Debi's morning brewing
beans. Resealing the Blangili no FoodSaver hiccup.
Carmen's out to get me! Me thinks I'd better start singing Carmen Estate
praises or I'll soon be buying a new FoodSaver;-)
Good night and good cups!

Since you are the veteran Foodsaver user here (I just got mine a couple
weeks ago) I am wondering; Do you rebag and vacseal greens?

Yup, have for years. Usually the same day greens arrive though sometimes
they sit around a few days. Usage: cut open right a seal, weigh out for a
roast, re-vac and seal the bag. I use the 8" wide for greens. 1/2# greens
roast batches never a problem having enough bag left to re-vac and seal. If
smaller batches don't cut along the entire seal but rather about half
angling up so smaller opening to re-vac and seal. They've also come out with
6" wide stock bag rolls but I've stuck with just using 8" & 11" rolls. If I
need a narrower I cut lengthwise to size.
Recent test suggests vac bagging and freezing the greens even better,
especially maintaining acidity.

Yep , mine came with two rolls of the 6". Ok, another question. If I am to
bag up all of my greens I will very quickly need new bags. Are they easy to
find?
