A couple days ago I asked for a recommendation for a repair shop in the =
San Francisco area because my Giotto had started leaking around the =
steam and hot water wands. I did get the name of a good one, but even =
better, Michael Wade dropped by this afternoon, helped me take apart the =
leaking steam wand, and best of all helped put it all back together. It =
turned out that all it needed was real tightening - I had been too =
gentle with it not realizing that a part that was moving a little wasn't =
supposed to move at all. My Giotto is now back in business although I'm =
still waiting for a new head gasket to come in as it is also leaking =
around the portafilter and the new gasket I have doesn't fit tightly =
enough.
As partial payback for Michael's kindness, I got out my HGDB and we =
roasted a batch so he could see how easy it was. We also pulled a =
couple of shots on the Giotto - he said he had never had espresso that =
wasn't bitter or sour before. I had some Miel with a nice long finish - =
great single origin espresso.
There really are knights in shining armor on this list - thanks Michael!

Zara, I agree completely about the list. Through this list I met a new =
friend, learned a new roasting method, had my first real espresso with a =
warm-out-of-the-oven scone and got to play with a new kind of machine - =
all on one day.
Gotta love it.
