fast--often, even after a Cafiza-and-steaming-water soak for half an hour, I
need to ream the screen holes out to dislodge the residue.

Interesting and not good. I've never had the inside of the screen get gunked
up in almost 5 years, not with Silvia or the Bric'. What I was referring to
on the Bric's screen holder walls, are literally inner vertical side walls
not the horizontal screen itself. And it was minor gunk on the walls at
that, screen itself clean as a whistle both sides. (the E61 screen assembly
looks is like a cylinder with the screen on one end, a flat bottom straight
sided bowl with about 3/4" sides) Silva's almost all flat screen assembly
never had a build up at all. If following good post shot cleaning hygiene
screen shouldn't get gunked up.
Do you flush the group after EVERY shot? In addition to group flush I follow
with quick PF backflush blank flush wiggle after ever shot. So it's open
group flush a couple seconds and PF backflush blank flush wiggle couple
seconds, after every shot. And then water only backflush after every shot
session completed, even if it's only pulling one shot. Combined with weekly
Cafiza detergent back flush screens have never gunked up, never. Also, if
entertaining pulling lots of shots I detergent backflush end of day (or next
morning) regardless if detergent backflushed the week or day before.
