miKe,
You always post the exact temp of your espresso shots. Do you have one of
those E61 replacement plugs that allows a thermocouple to be in the water
stream in the grouphead (I have seen these discussed on Home-Barista and
Coffeegeek) or some other technique? I am having a lot of trouble dialing
in my espresso and am sure it is temperature related (on an HX machine).
Thanks,
Frank

No, I haven't added a grouphead TC/Thermometer through the E61 bolt (yet).
I've had the use of a Scace Thermofilter to dial in my surf technique. I use
initial long cooling flush (about 9oz with the Bricoletta, 15 count after
flash), build PF, then flash surf&go for the shots. This is the "pro" method
Chris Tacy discussed in his review of the Bricoletta (on HB).http://www.home-barista.com/hx-love.htmlfor other HX temp surf">http://www.home-barista.com/pros-perspective-briccoletta.htmlSee alsohttp://www.home-barista.com/hx-love.htmlfor other HX temp surf
method.
My understanding is sometimes one method is better than the other for a
particular machine. I find the surf & go method works well with the
Bricoletta.

Ultimately the quest for Koffee Nirvana is a solitary path. To know I must
first not know. And in knowing know I know not. Each Personal enlightenment
found exploring the many divergent foot steps of Those who have gone before.
