Topic: first peaberry batch (4 msgs / 73 lines)
1) From: Dennis & Marjorie True
I know I know I am flooding the list today but since I am on leave rigt
now I have lots of playtime...
I tried my first peaberry batch today in the popper and I am a bit
mystified by the results..
it was a very fast roast only 3.5 min to FC and I pulled it at just a
smidge under 5 for a City+
normally with a 1/4 cup roast using a 100ft ext. cord I hit FC at 6
the roast appears to be even but alot of the peaberries didn't "grow" in
size but all appear to be roasted equally..
is there something about peaberries I should know?

Dennis,
I TOLD you they roast faster!
If you are on leave all week, maybe we can "play" again Thursday or
Friday. Bring the Mrs. along this time (or you will NEVER get your
Liberty Card again). All we did is roast on Saturday when you were
here, I still have lots of other "toys" to play with.

Peaberries generally don't look as expanded after roasting as do
longberries. I think it is due to the shape and is probably an
illusion, although I have not measured unroasted and then roasted
peaberries for density yet.
Longberry beans are about 20 gr per 1/8th cup as greens and about 10
gr roasted. Has anybody checked the peaberries?

was it the marias special guat, if so i've noticed the same thing, not alot
of expansion, peaberries typically roast faster/darker than other regular
coffee beans, so that would be part of the time difference.
