Topic: 5u Polyester Felt and Basic H (33 lines)
1) From: Knit Kim
Although I have not used Basic H personally, from the fiber world
(knitting, spinning, weaving, dyeing), a lot of people use it to help
clean fleeces and also to soak yarn or fiber that is about to be dyed.
I'm not sure if it's true or not, but on the dyeing lists, they say
that synthrapol is the same as Basic H. Although I can't find a basic
ingredient list to verify this or not.
From what I do know they both are surfactants. As a cheaper
alternative for a dyeing class I taught, I went to Whole Foods, and
their dish liquid is not a detergent but a surfactant as well. It
seemed to work well for the class, but it was a very informal class,
and some didn't even use it.
I used my polyester felt for the first time this morning and was going
to try cleaning it with the Whole Foods dish liquid because I don't
know where I put my synthrapol. If it works well I'll definitely
update.
