I stopped at a coffee shop on my way back from lunch and picked up some drip coffee (not the best, not the worst, but caffeinated). The description for the Ethiopian Yirg said it had an Earl Grey aftertaste. Has anyone ever picked that up? I like Yirg and hate Earl Grey. I've never gotten anything but fruit from Yirg.
I haven't picked that up, but Earl Grey is flavored with citrus (bergamot) oil, so maybe that's the fruit they're getting. However, there are many versions of Earl Grey and they don't all taste the same to me. I used to enjoy some of them but eventually tired of the combination of flavors (it's a blend of teas as well as being flavored) and switched to "single-origin" teas. And now, having discovered Sweet Maria's, the switch to single-origin coffees. I don't really pick up any of the tea-flavors in coffee, though Tom does mention it occasionally in his reviews. Yes, Tara, I have often thought Yirg tastes like Earl Grey. Earl Grey is ok, for tea. But I really love Yirgacheffe. Peculiar, ain't it? --- Tara Kollas wrote: <Snip> Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Mail has the best spam protection around http://mail.yahoo.com
