Topic: MAG-II Coffee (3 msgs / 88 lines)
1) From: Jerry Procopio
At 6pm when I got ready to roast for this weekend's gathering I found
that I only had 1/2 pound of Gesha left. Well *crap*! So in my anger I
decided to make a 50/50 blend of Gesha and Carmen 18+. As soon as I had
mixed the beans in the hopper, I thought "gee, that was dumb" since
there will be plenty of other coffee and I didn't really need to
"stretch" the Gesha. About 5 minutes into the roast I looked over at my
work table and there lay the 1 pound of Gesha that I had set aside for
this roast a couple days ago. Oh well! Best laid plans....
I had a nice roast session and have the following resting for Saturday:
Gesha/Carmen 18+ Blend (FC)
The missing pound of Gesha (FC)
Ethiopian Harar Lot 30 (C+)
Ethiopian Harar Lot 532 (C+)
Moa'ula Ka'u XF (C+)
Monkey Blend (FC+)
Komodo Blend Decaf (Vienna)
JavaJerry's 4-Bean Decaf (FC)
For those of you that don't remember, Lot 532 was last year's Harar that
had blueberries jumping out of it. I've been saving it for Tara.
I intended to roast the Komodo Blend to FC+, but like any decaf, if you
are not careful they get away from you quickly and this one did. I
stopped the roast barely into 2nd crack and viola .... Vienna! If I had
tried for Vienna, I probably would have ended up with charcoal nuggets.
The 4_bean decaf is a blend of Guatemala Huehue WP decaf, Sulawesi
Toraja decaf, Ethiopian Harar WP decaf, and Panama WP decaf-Panamaria
Farm. It was pre-roast blended and roasted to FC.
Everything is degassing now and will get vac sealed in 2 qt. Mason jars
in the morning.
Thursday is cheesecake day!
See ya'll Saturday.

Jerry,
What a great assortment of coffees. How are we going to taste them all? I'm
looking forward to trying.
Being a morning person the evenings are a more likely time for me to mess up
too. Last night while roasting the Panamas, I just caught myself in the nick
of time before I dumped the just roasted COE #2 back into the hottop rather
than the green COE #1. Guess if I had done it the average roast level of the
two would have been correct :-).
BTW my wife prefers dark roasted coffee which I only do occasionally. So she
should enjoy the Vienna Komodo.
See you in a coupl'a days on "Hottop Road" :-)

Michael,
Amazing the silly things we almost do sometimes!
See you there. We were gonna drive up and back on Saturday, but decided
to spend Sat nite in the Harrisburg area. Country Inn & Suites by
Carlson has rooms for $80 in Mechanicsburg.
