Topic: I roast 1 .vs. 2 (3 msgs / 58 lines)

Ok I have been hearing a lot of chatter about the I roasts.
I currently own an I roast 1..... im starting to get a queasy feeling 
that it's about to give up the ghost...
now....
I have heard some good, but more bad about the I roast 2... which 
currently is the offering at SM's.
I like my IR1 I have learned it, and know it,  I am reluctant to get the 
IR2 because I have not heard anything really... good... about it yet,  
just a lot of bitching about burnt roasts, it's initial temp stuck at 
xxx degrees no matter what you program in for the first few minutes etc 
etc....
here it comes...
has anyone had the IR1 and the IR2 and can comment on how the I2 
compares?   should I change out my dying I1 with a 2 and if I do, will I 
be happy?

I've had them both.Still use it for making blends. However there is no 
comparison between the I-roast and the Hottop.If possible get a Hottop and 
use the I-roast for the smaller portion of coffee for your blend. Run the 
I-roast while the Hottop is cooling between runs. My blends are usually 500 
gr done in the Hottop and 150 gr done in the I-roast

thanks barry, i have been leanng towards a hot top as well.... but 
really love me ole I roast and hate to see it go by the wayside....  
right now i can afford another i roast genere, the hot top .... hmmm  
maybe in a few months.....
