Just finished my first Fresh Roast +8 batch ( Kenya Rui Ruiru). Took it to a
Full City at about 7.5 on the dial.
I'll let it degass till the morrow and give her a try in the Bodum. I'm
anxious!

My experience with *most* african coffees is that they are good with little
or no rest. They may not taste the same immediately after roasting as it
would with several days rest, but they are always good.
I'd drink an african coffee right out of the roaster. BUT, I wouldn't touch
a central american coffee without a good 3 days rest.

I think you're going to like this Kenya, Jeff. It is excellent!

I'd done poppers for a long time, but not seriously except for a few
months before I got my iRoast.
I've been iRoasting for almost a year.
First HG roast.
6 oz Guatamala Oriente DP brought to FC in about 16 minutes using a
$15 Masters Appliance (eBay - practically NIB) PH-1100 -- 750w/1450w.
I did most of the roast on low.
I roasted in a long handled round metal strainer/frying basket, which
fits perfectly inside the aluminum pot from an old broken rice steamer
I had. This in turn was placed inside a large metal mixing bowl on my
lap. This arangement let me roast up close and personal without
roasting ...um... nuts.
Anyway, it was a different experience. I didn't measure temperatures -
just watched, smelled, and listened. Stopped right at the first snap
of 2nd, which is easy to hear without the iRoar masking it.
Next time I may try a thermocouple.
I can see what is attractive about HG+DB. I may see about HG+BM next :-)

If you do, and you have a way of doing it, I'd love to see photos of
how you get roasting temps with the thermocouple. I got a thermocouple
from SM a while back but haven't used it because I don't understand
how to get the business end into the beans.
