Or is it?!
Kopi Luwak, or, coffee excreted from the civet cat, are undigested beans,
cleaned from the berry, covered in, well, you know.
Apparently their digestive system removes all the bitterness associated with
coffee.
The best news, it only costs $20 for 2oz!http://www.coffeebreakgourmet.com/~Enjoy~

I'm sure some entrepreneurial brokers have thought of substituting
other, more common mammals into the production line other than the luwak:
- a gerbil
- a hamster
- a dachsund
- a toddler

Hey, the toddler should work - they'll eat anything! And no need for a
filter either - just put the whole (cloth) diaper in your machine and
you're good to go.
I hope nobody is reading these messages during dinner. :)

It is easy to make toddleresque jokes about the Luwak processed
coffee but it is a well established part of the coffee market and
IMHO anyone who is serious about coffee should at least try it. I
have home roasted two different Luwak coffees and tried a third at
the 2004 Ig-Nobel awards. There is a distinct Luwak overtone that
was clearly present in all three coffees. I found it quite a
pleasant addition to the better beans . One of my daughters even
thought it was the best coffee she ever tasted. I do not find that
it is worth the cost at current prices to drink regularly but if it
was priced around $20 a pound I would probably roast a small batch
two or three times a year.
