Topic: Mr Coffee carafe cup measurement (5 msgs / 145 lines)
1) From: Brian Kamnetz
Hi,
A while ago there was a discussion regarding how many ounces are in a
"cup" of coffee. One of my coworkers wants me to bring in some coffee
so that she can brew it once and see what it tastes like. She will use
a Mr. Coffee (I have my fingers crossed, hoping that it will be hot
enough to extract most of the coffee from the grounds) that supposedly
has a capacity of 10 cups if you fill it to the handle band at the
neck of the carafe, and has lines signifying 4, 6, and 8 cups on the
side. She will brew "8" cups. Anyone know how many ounces and in Mr.
Coffee "8 cups"?
Thanks,
brian

Go with 2 - 2.5 oz of ground coffee.
Pray she doesn't use a paper filter.
OR advise that she at least can see what coffee looks like...

Mr. Coffee's "cups" are 5 oz. So an 8-cup carafe is actually 40 oz.

50g in a Mr. Coffee will brew coffee unlike anything she has ever tasted
before, even with a paper filter. (Mr. Coffee = ubiquitous paper filter!)
