My next Sweet Maria's order will include several pounds of decaf so I
can enjoy and experiment later in the evenings. What are some of the
favorites currently being offered? Normally I tend to enjoy the
Indonesian's and Ethiopian's the best.
Thanks!
Chad

The Indonesian and Ethiopian decafs offered by SM are amazingly good! I
always thought I hated decaf, but it's actually very good. I just
roasted the African Highlands decaf last night. I will try it in a
couple of days - and I can't wait!

What I did was order a sampler pack and in the notes area, I asked for all
decafs. This gives you a chance to try several before settling on one.

Sheila,
No need to wait to enjoy the Decaf !!! Sandy and Justin informed me of that
fact!

africa highland and ethiopia sidamo are the first that come to mind.
panama panamaria was my favorite recent central american decaf.
sumatra and sulawesi are always good since their low acid cup profile
suits itslef well to decaffeination.
by the way, anyone read about the decaf stir sticks? i might have
missed it while on a trip, if we did discuss it, but rumor is that it
works well, and is 1-2 years from production.

Awesome idea! Now you have me excited about getting 8 lbs of decaf, and
I thought my options would be limited. Thanks for the suggestion, that's
what I will do.

Yes, I read about the stir sticks in Red Herring. Sounds incredible,
but the article said the company was looking for larger distribution
partner since they didn't have cap to go it alone.

Tom,
We did have a discussion on the decaf stir sticks ... got Raymon in and
uproar if I remember correctly.

I love the Guatemala Huehuetenango, Nicaragua Matagalpa, Ethiopia
Sidamo (they now have a Harar decaf!), Java Blawan, Sulawesi Toraja
and Costa Rica decafs--some might be out of stock. If you want
something heavy and exotic, try the SWP decaf Komodo Blend (all Indy)
too. And Donkey for espresso, of course.

I echo Sandy's feelings. I love the Huehuetenango
(drank a cup this morning), the Kenya, Java and the
Sulawesi.
Please note however, the Kenya and Java are *very*
different in the cup. I like both the bright and
'not so bright' coffees, so you always have to take my
recommendations with a grain of salt...I like them
all!
