In talking to 'Solis' Customer Service at CafeWest, I learned about a =
method of cleaning the brew unit using the test mode feature. This is =
not in any of the included docs and is similar to back flushing.
As follows:
- Turn off SM5k
- remove & clean brew unit as normal
- put cleaner in unit (piston chamber/tube)
- return unit to system
- put large cup under dispenser head
- hold grind & steam buttons and turn on system
- turn brew dial to far left
- push and hold steam button until sound / cycle finishes
- wait 5 - 10 minutes
- turn brew dial to 12:30 or 1:00 position
- press & hold grind button and allow sludge to expel from dispenser =
head
- when stream runs clear release button.
- turn brew dial to far right and push / hold steam button again
- return dial to normal position
- turn off machine
- done
The first time I did this was ugly - lots of sludge and particulates =
came pouring out of the dispenser.
