Topic: Coffee for our Troops (couple questions for Sean) (2 msgs / 79 lines)

O.K. so we have a few problems... 1st off, I guess it's pretty much settled
that somehow we should send Chaplain Anderson some greens, and possibly a
new roaster (we still don't know what he is using right now. Sean do you
know what roaster he is using?). Sean, also how large is his unit, or how
much would he need? 2nd, Tom said he would be willing to ship some roasted
beans, but this is still in the air, because ONE, we don't have any other
addresses for other units (possibly a recruiting agency could get the ball
rolling on that one), and TWO there is some speculation the roasted coffee
will go bad or stale due to long transport. Sean, what would be your
guestimate of how long it would take for the coffee to arrive? Personally, I
think that even if it took 2 weeks, it would still taste better than what
they are currently drinking over there. THIRD, we still have yet to organize
methods of money collection, and ways to choose whether each donation will
go to greens for chaplain, or roasted for other addresses (which we don't
have right now). FOURTH, it has been proposed if we decide to go with only
shipping greens to Chaplain Anderson, the left over money could be used to
ship other necessities. That might get complicated if Tom and Maria were to
be involved somehow in the collection process, as they are extremely busy
already, and it would be too much to ask them to go grocery shopping for us.
This means either someone else could collect money, and order greens, and
then ship the greens to Chaplain Anderson, as well as go shopping for other
items when money is in excess, OR this might be a good reason to find some
addresses for other units, who would use roasted coffee. This would ensure
that if SM were the collector, there would never be any excess money
floating around, as there would always be places that would need coffee. My
0.02 to get the ball rolling a little more....

This is a multi-part message in MIME format.
I have been traveling since last week - not sure how the best way to do this
other then individuals sending SM gift cards to the Chaplain and he can buy
what he needs. SM sends to APO/FPO so he could make orders for stuff he may
need to support the Marines there.
Not sure - or folks could just send him greens directly.
