Are there quals for being a judge? Do you have to have experience as a
barista for x number of yrs?

Yes there are qualifications which can be found on SCAA web here: Judge's
Rules & Regulations. http://www.scaa.org/about_regional_next.aspWhile
there are no specific experience requirements, they prefer experience. Be it
as a previous barista competitor, judge, professionally coffee cupping etc.
The reason I wasn't selected to judge this competition was because they had
a large field of both WBC & USBC certified judge's and new judges with
either competition experience and or industry experience. I don't disagree
with their decision. After all I'd only even seen part of one competition in
the past way back in '02! However, I've no doubt next time won't be a issue.
The 10 hour judge's workshop Thursday was a great learning experience. No
regrets.

first not know. And in knowing know I know not. Each Personal enlightenment
