Topic: India Dewan Estate Kohinoor AA (8 msgs / 180 lines)
1) From: David Morgenlender
I've been roasting for a few months now. My first order included a =
sampler with
the roaster. One of the 8 coffees was India Dewan Estate Kohinoor AA.
Unfortunately, I didn't get to try it until now. WOW! I roasted trying =
for FC,
but I think what I got was closer to City+. It would be incredible if FC=
 would
be even better than this! This has to be one of my favorites, perhaps =
even #1.
Previously, Ethiopian Harar Horse Green Stripe, followed closely behind =
by
Panama Hacienda La Esmeralda Gesha were my favorites. The Dewan is just =
so
different than any others I've tried, and so GOOD!!!
I decided to brew it (drip in Presto Scandi) after almost 3 days rest. I
immediately knew I loved it, but being new at this, I don't immediately
recognize specific flavors. So I looked up Tom's review. I could easily
recognize so many of the flavors & aromas he described ... =
"creamy-cocoa-nutty
cup", "mild pepper" (which really lingers), cherry wet aroma. I just =
took
another sip ... an additional flavor has erupted, maybe winey ... IAE =
very nice!
There's only one thing I don't like about this coffee ... there are no =
more
beans available!!! I've gotta be quicker next time!
This roasting stuff certainly has its great moments!

David,
My wife thoroughly enjoyed that coffee as well. Before I started home
roasting, she wouldn't even touch coffee. Now she expects me to leave a
thermos of coffee for her in the morning, before I go to work.

There is something special about a good India coffee. My stash is out right
now too. It is always good to stock up on what you really like when it is
in. My problem is there are too many really likes!

Enjoy it! I'm now drinking my 2nd cup of it, now with almost 5 days =
rest. And
somehow, it manages to be even better than after 3 days rest! At first =
it had a
really strong toasted almond flavor. Now a few minutes later it has an
extremely strong bittersweet chocolate flavor which just lingers ...

I just roasted some. 4 oz in a slightly battered Z&D roaster. Roasted to FC.
It smells great and it is a really beautiful looking bean. Nice color, even
roast, pretty sheen.
