No. It requires a naked PF to use the triple. Too deep.

Synesso has an oversized double basket that just fits standard 58mm PFs
without going nekkid. Reports seem to indicate average 2 to 4gr larger than
most other double baskets and about 2gr smaller than triple basket. There
was just a group buy put together on HB by JonR10. Haven't gotten mine yet,
Jon just received the shipment from Synesso and reported his test fills
weighed 20gr. It's Synesso PN 1.709-18. I have no idea if it'll fit a Gaggia
58mm, just that it fits all the other standard 58mm PFs.

Actually, I never really liked the basket, or more particular, the
shots it produced. It was a defining moment when it really snapped
in place that MORE is NOT better by sake of being more. The shots
were not as good. It was not just 1.5 times the volume of a
double. It was a different flavor profile. It is probably one of
the reasons I am so happy with my 51 mm, 16 g, double 1.5 oz shot
from my lever. It is middle of the road "specs" but the flavor is
out of this world.
now maybe if I could get a 58mm deep quad basket that held 40 g of
coffee ..... :P (tongue planted firming in cheek)

I'll go even one step further. I have been wondering what the big deal is
about single shots. I mean as a good American, bigger is always better
right! I have been pulling awesome 1 oz single shots on my Olympia
Cremina. In fact, I now have six single baskets (more is better!). If I
want a double shot, I actually do a double. I load two single baskets, tamp
and pull back to back one ounce shots for the smoothest creamiest double
shot in my experience. Bigger isn't always better or even the same as
Alchemist said.

I bought a triple for my Livia to use in a regular PF, and no matter
how much I updosed, I always got soupy pucks with it. Gone back to
using doubles.

Sandy, What a Voice!
Superb Coffee in the Fog...
What "got soupy pucks"? Doesn't the Livia have a three-way solenoid to vent
the pressure on the filter after a shot? I'm sure it has, but rather than
troubleshoot a component that functions OK normally, how about the 3X filter
basket in your standard PF handle?
I haven't the "Foggiest" idea why it fails, especially if you pack and tamp
it with the same technique as the 2X basket.
Back up one space, and brew your favorite beverage in your tried-and-true
way. If you do your best pulling doubles, get a spare 2X filter basket or
two. You'll be all set to favor your friends with a quick double, or pull a
quad shot for yourself on those Foggy days in Chi town.
Egad- I finally got a shot from the Capresso thingy in which the crema just
tailed off the bottom of the (52mm 2X) filter basket into the Bodum Assam
glass cup.
With the crema enhancing dildo removed from the filter handle, it's naked.
14g of a 20 grind comes shooting out of the Major in about 2 or 3 seconds
(maybe it's 5- who's counting?), and the hot filter basket was heaped full.
I tapped it down and set the stainless hot foot of the tamper on it and
swiveled it around. I only gave it a 25 or 30 pound shove just before I
twisted it off. The Celtic Critic said it was all worth it, as she sipped
through the layer of crema.
Guatemala HHT "knocking at the front door of 2nd." then Stopped right where
I wanted it. Good stuff.
Cheers -RayO, aka Opa!
It's the Grinder, silly. The Grinder is the Prime Implement-

Yeah, I have double baskets now in both my PFs (I keep one in the
machine and rinse the other under the group to heat it when I am
making multiple drinks in sequence--while pulling one double I am
filling the other, still-hot, basket). I was using the triple in the
std. handle, and could not knock out the perfectly formed pucks that
come out of my double baskets. Aw, who needed triples anyway? (My
goal was to use the triple for a double ristretto).
