I would appreciate the sharing of your experiences with respect to the
roasting and cupping of this coffee. I have roasted it twice now and seem
to have "missed the mark."

Komodo Blend is one of my standards, roasted FC+ to V-. I love it.
These days I drink blends of about 3 parts decaf to 1 part caf. :-(
My body is happier that way. Anyway, 3 parts FC+ Komodo to 1 part
C-FC Idido (Kodido?) is some of the tastiest coffee I've ever made.
I roast in a split, fan boosted P1, about 15-minute roasts.

Bill

Eddie,
The few times I've tried Komodo I've been disappointed. Roasts varied from
just past start of 2nd to 30 secs into second. It gets real dark and I'm
afraid to take it further. Perhaps if I wasn't so happy with Donkey blend I
might persist, but I don't expect to try it again anytime soon. BTW this is
the only Sweet Maria's coffee, decaf or reg, that ever disappointed me.

Michael,
I was thinking that this one may just not be my taste ... although that
would be a real shame because it would narrow my choices from 64 to 63!

I accidentally bought a pound of Indonesian Organic SWP Komodo Blend. I've
been thinking of trying some of the decaf, after hearing folks on the list
rave about SM's decaf.
The beans are very dark, which I didn't expect. They look darker than some
of my roasted beans. Is that correct?

It is correct, which makes then a bit of a challenge in the roaster.
You need to real;y go by smell and sound more than sight...

I go by temperature too. Tom sells a nice, if basic, thermocouple...

I use a Z&D to roast, so noisy that I'll be left with only my nose.
