Topic: Home again and back on the list (3 msgs / 97 lines)

Well, I'm at home again and back on the list after returning late
Saturday night from our 33 day cruise from Seattle to Tampa via the
Panama Canal and Amazon River. Holland America's coffee sucks - even
what they serve in their new espresso bar. Good equipment + stale
coffee + poor barista technique = crappy product. Thank goodness I
brought homeroast and an AeroPress. I had to ration myself to one cup a
day of homeroast to stretch it through the entire cruise, but managed
and had about 1/2 pound leftover at the end. I had a couple "fair"
shots in Manaus, Brazil but the only really good (really, really good)
shot I had was at a little coffee shop in the pier terminal in Barbados.
I had met Andrew, the proprietor, two years ago so I brought him 1/2
pound of homeroast (3 weeks old by the time he got it) and while he and
I were talking his wife handed me a double ristretto and said "try
this". How do you spell "H E A V E N L Y "? He's doing some roasting
with a Hottop or Alpenroast but ready to go to a BBQ drum. I plugged
Sweet Maria's for greens and the RK Drum for Ron and gave him the
website urls.
Even with the list on "vacation" while I was gone, I have more unread
(1,008) e-mails than I can probably read. I didn't realize that I was
that far behind before I left.
It's great to be back home to fresh Sweet Maria's homeroast!
