As a relative noob, I have just posted my review of the FR+8 roaster on CoffeeGeeks.com. If you're interested, you can review my review:http://coffeegeek.com/reviews/accessories/freshroast_roaster/tmaynardIt's not a "proper" review but more a "how I use it" document. Of course I draw heavily on SM's techniques/procedures/timing. But, it does reflect my current state-of-the-roasting art with the FR+8. Any/all comments/critques/complaints are welcome! My hide is pretty thick! Anyway, it's the way I choose to use my roaster.
Tom Good job! People are gonna find that helpful. If I may, why do you never roast for more than two days at a time? Eddie On 11/5/06, Tom Maynard wrote: <Snip>
Eddie, I'm not a heavy drinker (pardon the expression). I typically only have two 10-ounce mugs of coffee per day ... and not even everyday -- but most days. The roasting output from the FR+8 more than satisfies my coffee habit: one roast delivers enough beans for two days (or more, if I skip a day). I love my coffee, but I don't crave it -- if you know what I mean. I like it fresh, and I like it good, but I don't necessariy like it everyday. So, the FR+8 batch sizes more than adequately meet my needs. I'm the only coffee drinker in my household. If my wife began to drink coffee -- even only as much as I do -- then I'd have to give serious consideration to a larger capacity roaster! Until then, the FR+8 is just fine for me -- and I'm loving the exploration it allows. Thanks for asking, Tom.
Tom, It sounds as though you have found the perfectly balanced solution for your needs. Thanks for entertaining my query. Eddie On 11/6/06, Tom Maynard wrote: <Snip>
