Topic: Sweet Marias -- How Lucky We All Are! (17 msgs / 269 lines)
1) From: Tom Maynard
As you all know I went recently in quest of the SM of TEA. I found (thanks to
some great leads from all my respondents) a handful of simply great online tea
shops. Until my wife develops a taste for coffee, these will be the best I can
do for her.
But, I hope you all realize how special is, and how lucky we all are for, Sweet
Maria's. I found a number of truly excellent tea sites -- but none of them are
as wonderful as SM. Think about it: at SM each bean is roasted, cupped, rated,
reviewed, commented on, and made available for sale and is also on the mailing
list for public comment. NONE of the tea sites is this "transparent."
None of the tea sites has that level of interaction -- nor any other coffee site
-- nor any other site at all, of any type that comes to mind. SM is a treasure!
A gold mine, and a precious resource. I challenge you to find a similar
information base -- and I'll leave the field of endeavor open!
I honestly don't recollect how I first stumbled onto SM.com -- a random Google
is most likely. But, as soon as I landed there I knew I was "at home." I'm
sure you all feel the same way. My standard has been set, and (fortunately or
not) the standard is pretty d*mn high.
My hat is off to Tom and Maria, and I ask you all to take a moment to appreciate
how lucky we all are for them, their efforts, and (especially for) our benefit!

I went looking for Uganda Bugisu and SM popped up! It is still my all time
favorite coffee, but the Brazil Yellow Bourbon is nipping at its heals. The
Idido Misty Valley is sneaking its way in too.

I said it once before on the list but, for me, it is absolutely true, "the
best part of waking up is Sweet Maria's home-roasted coffee in my cup!"
Tom and Maria are elevating coffee to the level and complexity of fine wines
and deservedly so! As CA grapes and French grapes produce different wines,
why wouldn't African coffees and South American coffees produce different
brews?

Coffee Mug Raised! Here here I found them off an ad on a stock website
about the "secret the coffee company's don't want you to know." 3 links
later I found SM and have been here ever since!

it best in the Twelve Steps of CSA (http://home.comcast.net/~mdmint/coffee/csa12steps.htm)Steps 2 and 3:
We came to belive that no power could force us to drink pre-roasted or
pre-ground or, perish the thought, canned coffee.
We made a decision to turn our will and our bank accounts over to the care
of Tom and Sweet Maria's as we understood him.

I posted steps 2 and 3 in the message in addition to citing miKe and the web
address ;-) shouldn't be an issue, gave him complete credit. Consider it the
same as a works cited page at the end of a term paper...

Extra nice. Every so often, someone begins this testimonial again.
Every time I've seen it happen, its made me realize how much this whole
coffee experience, including everything everyone says about Tom and
Maria, means to me. After many years, instead of taking this for
granted, I am so happy to say that it only gets better, and Tom and
Maria continue to outdo themselves. Thanks, you guys.
