Does anyone have a link to instructions for builing an SCTO? A friend of
mine is interested in making one and I might do the same.

Sure. First, get a great big pot of water. Then heat it up to 212
degrees Fahrenheit...
Oh, BUILDING. Not BOILING. Sorry. :)
Seriously now...here are a couple of links:
Also, search CoffeeGeek for the incredibly long thread on SC/TO
building and roasting.

Here's a link, I believe, from the archives of this very SM-hosted list:http://homeroast.pbwiki.com/SCTOThat also has a series of links at the bottom of the page for a wealth
of SC/TO threads and pictorials, including the massive CoffeeGeek thread
alluded to in another response (which, BTW, provides a wealth of
information and is worth wading through the 8+ or more laborious pages).
I use SC/TO and am very pleased with the ROI, given batch size and
results vs. price of Gene, HT and other alternatives.

Thanks for the info. I'll pass it along. I figured if my friend builds
one, I will as well to consolidate home depot runs. Be interesting to
compare side by side roasts with the GC.

Kevin, if you'd like to see one, I could bring mine to work. I think
Charlie might be interested, too, if we could get him out of the
cafeteria.

Thanks! I'm definately going to make one of these once I play with my gene
cafe for a little bit. I roasted a Harar in the gc last night to City+ but
I think it was slightly under roasted; too bright, no blueberry (FP brew
method). I think this machine will give me the flavor profile I'm looking
for (less bright/whineyness).
Tom,
I'd love to see it. Let me know when you're going to bring it in and we'll
do lunch. I'm working in Union now so I'll need a little notice.
