Topic: re-Java Government Estate Djampit & Theraputic Qualitie (4 msgs / 73 lines)
1) From: Eddie Dove
Hey Jay!
I roasted two back-to-back batches (230g each) in a Gene Cafe set to 456 F
for the duration of the roast. The roast was stopped at the first audible
snaps of 2nd crack, Full City + and the roaster did the cooling. Patience
pays off for this coffee because after a couple-few days rest, the body
really begins to develop. When I wrote that description, it was 8 days post
roast. I cannot remember the last time I roasted anything past Full City +,
but this coffee really needs the darker roast to develop the chocolate and I
bet it would be great even darker.
Respectfully,
Eddie

Hey thanks for the info Eddie. Normally I roast twice a week, two 6oz roasts so I will
usually have around 4 coffees to choose from. but when I got the latest shipment in I
kinda went nuts with it. I dont want to go through the trouble of tasting all 4 roasts each
day to see which I like better/what day ect, ect. so I will concentrate on two of them I
suppose. The Kenya and Guat PB for taste eval's then I will have to suffice with the
Brazil YB and the Idido in the meantime (hehe) for "Regular" consumption.
I guess I will continue onward and upward in the journey.

FWIW, in our household, the Djampit is considered "peak" around days
4-6. It's a good cup of coffee the day after, but if left to itself
in the one-way-valve bag, it becomes a *great* cup on day 4 or 5.
It's one of our favorites. (iRoast2, one-way-valve bag storage,
press-pot brew on weekdays and a vacpot on weekends)

Hey thanks sharon. Today is day 4 for my roast of this one...my Kenya and SM guat
peaberry is almost gone so I will probably start on it tongight or tomorrow (yay turkey day)

Since I came to the next level of coffee passion I threw out my mr coffee about 3 mos ago
and bought the presto scandinavian but after it broke (after a whole 21 days) so I have been without anything other than mellita pourover and presspot. However I just won a
Cory on ebay for 22$ and found another vintage vac pot at a local cristian thrift store.
I havent seen it yet the owner (nice elderly lady) said her neighbor gave it to her
about 20yrs ago and If I came back in a week it would be there.
so soon I will be trying the vac pot method also. yay!! OK my little munchkins just got off
  bus gotta go everyone.
