Topic: How much coffee can a brew hold? (9 msgs / 132 lines)
1) From: Scott Marquardt
What constitutes a thoroughly saturated solution of coffee?
What is its Brix? It's TDS?
Anyone know?

Don't know the theoretically maximum saturation but have pulled a 24g loaded
LM triple basket 45sec 1/2oz super ristretto on occasion:-)

You must have been able to stand on that ristretto. How are they at
that concentration? My mouth tingles thinking about it.

Intense and sweet. Get this, my first accidental 1/2oz triple basket
ristretto shot was Yirgacheffe, Wet Processed!

Yirgacheffe...wild. Intense, in its true definition, must be exactly
what it was. You say it was accidental...had you not intended to make
a ristretto, or had you used Yirg by accident?

Had not intended for a super short 1/2oz 45sec triple basket ristretto no,
grind was a "bit" tight to say the least:-) But was very surprised very
drinkable (if you really "drink" 1/2oz, I mean gone like instantly!) Oh sure
way intense but not overly so, and all sweeet Yirg'. And yes, definitely on
the bright side as WP Yirg' is of course. But had the shot temp up (around
~205f) so not sour or bitter at all.
