I don't know about the rocky specificaly...but I've always heard
instant, regular rice is too hard.

Hmmm, then why does drilling holes in soft pine dull my expensive steel drill bits? Any soft material will wear down anything harder than it. The process may just take a lot longer if there's a big difference in the hardness of the two materials.
