Look on the bottom of your SMP, and call Baratza. Ask for Customer Service
and tell them you'd like to speak with Kyle Anderson. From personal
experience, he wants Solis owners to be satisfied.
Depending on the vintage of your grinder and how nuch of a Gorilla you are
when adjusting the hopper for the grind pitch, your machine might need a grind
adjustment ring. The new ones have heavier fingers that engage the slots in
the bottom of the hopper to adjust the grind. Nothing was broken on my
2.5year old SMP, so the old one stayed.
He'll probably offer you new burrs, or even a set of neat Virtuoso burrs, if
you ask. Switching the burrs is truly child's play. If you don't have a pair
of locking pliers- "Vise Grips," avoid the rush and get a pair of 10WR's
now. They're indispensible to remove the lower Solis burr and many other
jobs that change from Impossible to Easy.
