I've got a chance to buy a ditter for a pretty reasonable price. This one
has "8 o'clock coffee" written on it and of course...it is BIG. Ftr, a
ditter is the type of grinder that you'd see in the grocery store where
you'd "grind your own". These monsters have a very wide grind range although
I seriously doubt they'd do a proper espresso grind. I want one for drip,
vac brew, and/or French press.
Does anyone know what these cost new? Anyone have experience with one of
these?
I might have to add a new room for this thing *if* I get it.

I've got a Hobart one sitting in my basement. It's something like .25 horse=
power and must weigh 80 pounds. I haven't played with it much, but I bet it=
will be difficult to grind small amounts . . .
I got it used for $30.=

Steve unless you sell coffee commercially, and need to grind large amounts
this type grinders is more trouble then it's worth. They are big, and heavy,
they are also quite messy. I say this because I had one like the one your
are talking about only it was made by Bunn.
I thought I would get so when Christmas rolled around and quite a few
friends and neighbors wanted coffee ground I would not ware out my Mini, It
became a space grabber and more of problem then a solution. I sold it and
told all friends and neighbors to at the very least buy a weed wacker
grinder if they wanted coffee from me because I was not giving ground coffee
as gifts anymore only whole bean.
Cheers

From what I've heard the quality of the Bunn is not comparable to Ditting
nor are few others. That is not from my experience though..just what I
hear.
