Topic: Rest for Moka Kadir Blend? Bolivia Peaberry? (4 msgs / 123 lines)
1) From: David Morgenlender
Yesterday evening I roasted some SM Moka Kadir Blend & SM Bolivia Organic
Peaberry De Montana in my new Gene Cafe roaster. I must soon face the =
moment of
truth ... choosing which to try on short rest. How long would you =
recommend
resting these beans?
I also roasted some SM Panama WP DECAF Panamaria. I'm assuming since =
it's a
decaf, it will be ok on short rest.

Moka Kadir is my "emergency" coffee precisely because it tastes good on
very little rest (I've done 12 hours) AND it is always available. I've
had less luck with South American coffees which have not been rested for
a few days.

I decided to go ahead with the Moka Kadir. I brewed some up yesterday =
after
about 20 hours rest. I suspect it will improve with time, since there =
was
relatively little complexity. But it was already delicious! A great =
chocolate
flavor, but more like milk chocolate than the bittersweet mentioned in =
the
review. It wouldn't be bad if it stayed the way it was yesterday! BTW, =
the
aroma when brewing in my Chemex was terrific!
Thanks for the suggestion!

I had the Moka Kadir again this afternoon. Today it was bittersweet =
chocolate,
with some occasional milk chocolate. I like this blend ... I wonder what
tomorrow will bring!
