Last "need info" question for awhile.
I've received great feedback as to Espresso Machines, would like some
comments on people using the higher end HX machines, and
reasons why....
I don't have a problem spending more if I know 1. that the extra $$ is
worth it, 2. I will eventually grow into being able to use the machine
to it's full potential, 3. The damn thing is built like a tank.
I see SM's offers a Andreja Espresso Machine, have read about a few others.
Again, comments appreciated, bank is waiting to loan me the money.
Thanks.
Jay

I was fortunate to have been able to purchase the S1 a year ago. I think =
it was money well spent for a two boiler machine. I had a Silvia prior =
to that and really appreciate the two boiler system. Little steep on the =
price but .. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one. They have made a =
few good improvements on the New S1. They improved the boiler sensor and =
have made upgrades to the logic for the timer and brew head temp =
control. I was able to upgrade to the new boiler temp control and it =
runs like a champ. I bought mine at Chris Coffee. Like I said a bit =
pricey but a machine that will last many years if cared for. Good Luck, =
Bob

The Pasquini Livia 90 Auto HX machine (not a superauto-- "auto"
merely means you can program shot volumes) is wonderful--great shots,
and very powerful steaming (which you can tame with an aftermarket 2-
hole tip to allow for more precise control and slower steaming
speed). Huge boiler and easy-fill tank (under a flip-up lid that
doesn't require you to remove the cup warmer). Cost me $1100 in May
2005 from trishops.com, which I understand has had its phone
disconnected and gave me grief when I tried to trace it (it did get
delivered w/in 3 wks but not w/o worry)--so spend the extra bucks and
buy it from Tom & Maria. Not an e61 grouphead, but built like a tank
(and elegant looking) and very dependable, w/solenoid valve for a
nice neat puck. Only beef I have with it is the drip tray's a bit
shallow and needs emptying more often.

I have pulled shots on the Andreja. It is a very fine machine. It steams
well. I think to would serve anyone very well. I really think that if you
are not going to take the jump to a double boiler machine, you can't go
wrong the the Andreja from Sweet Maria's. I would go to the Home-Barista
website and read the reviews of the different machines that have been
tested. You will learn a lot about espresso machines and what they can and
can't do.

Any of the Prosumer $1k+ HX or DB espresso machines are quite capable of
excellent shots and excellent micro-foamed milk. The QUESTION is what
grinder do you have or will you be getting?

Ditto spend some time on Home-Barista.com.

Ultimately the quest for Koffee Nirvana is a solitary path. To know I must
first not know. And in knowing know I know not. Each Personal enlightenment
found exploring the many divergent foot steps of Those who have gone before.
