I will admit to being a bit lazy and not in the high scrupulosity level
but still want the most bang for the buck with the least amount of
mess. This means using disposable filters. What are the opinions on the
Bunn coffee maker which claims it heats the water to 200 degrees F.? It
also uses a spray head to dispense the water on the grounds, wetting
them evenly. In a previous incarnation, a Bunn was the institution's
standard, making decent coffee from a better commercial source. Bunn is
not a cheap-o but is less than the Technivorm. Comments please.

I bought the Bunn with exactly that thought in mind - temperature and
a thermal caraffe....
I returned the Bunn after three weeks because...
The hot water goes by too quick
The basket is too small to overload and make up for the fast flush
There is no swissgold filter available for the Bunn
Fast Hot THIN coffee doesn't do it for me
My Melitta Clarity did far better
Presto Scandinavian is still out there
Technivorm offers the features without these downsides
Coffee is too important to waste on a bad brewer
Some peope like/love their bunns...

Bernard,
I have to concur with Brett. After doing my research, I bought the
Technivorm. I wrote a review for mine and it is on Homeroaster.org and it
may be helpful to you ... Click
Here.
When I use paper filters, and I strive not to, I really prefer the Filtropa
filters offered by our hosts. Just this week a co-worker was drinking my
coffee and exclaimed, "This was made with a paper filter?!?! What
kind!?!?!"
Respectfully,
Eddie

I also did the same; Bunn purchased and returned within 3 weeks. It was way
too fast and tricking the sensor by swinging the basket out to stop the
deluge mid-flow wasn't in the cards that early in the morning. I do have a
Presto Scandinavian which brews as hot and almost as fast at about 1/4 the
price. Mine no longer leaks onto the hotplate, thanks to the replacement
carafe top but the company seems to have run out of the replacements. I'd
say buy cheap now and save up for a Technivorm, but wait, maybe first a
better grinder; no wait, maybe a bigger capacity roaster; no wait, wait
maybe a better.???????..... IT NEVER ENDS!! and it does keep getting better!
Good luck, Linda
