Topic: Curse of the PRYS (33 lines)
1) From: John Blumel
I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced something similar...
The last three times I roasted PRYS in my Hottop, the roaster has
shut down on me just before I was about to stop the roast. And I
don't mean that it's dumped prematurely; I mean that the roaster has
just shut itself off and won't restart, even after cycling the power
on it (i.e., pulling the plug). I'm roasting around City++ so it
shouldn't be overheating, and that should trigger the Eject cycle
anyway.
The first time I thought it was a momentary power outage. The second
time it was the third batch of the day, and I thought it might be
related to that. But, today, I roasted the PRYS first and it did the
shutdown again. Naturally, this time I was waiting with equipment to
manually dump it, so no scorched beans today.
I've roasted a lot of other coffee's, some as far as Vienna in
between these PRYS roasts and haven't had a problem with any of the
other batches. That sort of makes it seem like it's something related
to the PRYS, but that just seems weird, so it could just be coincidence.
So, has anyone else experienced similar problems with a Hottop? Mine
is an early one, probably around 3.5 years old (I can't recall
exactly) and has the original chip.
