Topic: Less expensive naked portafilter option? (5 msgs / 79 lines)
1) From: Paul Jolly
I've seen those offered on Ebay for $55 or so, or the 'send us your PF and we'll convert it & send it back to you for $40' (like I'd dare go without a home espresso for a week!). Then I thought that someone here might steer me toward a local shop that could cut the bottom off my 58mm Rancilio PF. Any ideas where I'd look?

  Thanks,
  Paul

This is a multi-part message in MIME format.
Les aka Thor does them (your supplied PF) for $20 including return shipping
IIRC. As far as going without a PF while gettin' nekkid "should" have a 2nd
spare PF anyway with back flush blank in it at all times so back flushing
gets down regularly, as in water only back flush after every shot session:-)

PS Congrats on the SJ

I have seen a Les cut portafilter in person and he does a great job. Well
worth the price. That being said with a little caution, a drill, file or
dremmel and some time it is a very easy home done job. Brass is very soft.

Les took care of converting mine for a very reasonable fee some time
ago. Don't know if he's still doing that.
