Topic: Storing your beans and searching the archives (3 msgs / 132 lines)
1) From: Jeremy DeFranco
Hi Robert,
The best way to store fresh beans seems to be vaccum sealed. I
personally use a foodsaver to acheive this.
Here'sa link to the searchable
archives.
---First off, what's the best way to store my fresh beans? I see SM sells
the
canvas bags, is this best?
Secondly, could someone tell me how to use the archives? Is there some
problem with Firefox or am I missing something simple??

Thanks,
Robert

Thanks Jeremy, any idea what those bags SM sells are for then?
Luckily I've already got a foodsaver and I'm sure my wife will be only too
happy to see me start using it more regularly. ;-)
Thanks for the link, I don't remember seeing that particular address on SM's
anyway but maybe I wasn't looking hard enough.

Greens can be vacuum packaged for longer term storage, certainly
helps maintain moisture content.
From my experience you should be able to store beans in cloth for 12
to 18 months in a cool dry place without any problems. It's hard not
to let your stash get out of hand, just remember, there will always
be another auction lot Kenya or CoE Brazil never the same but always
outstanding. I haven't started vac sealing my greens yet, but then
again I just got my foodsaver this Christmas.
I know miKe vac seals and freezes beans. he'll probably chime in on
this one soon.
