I finished PID'ing my Silvia last week, and am really enjoying the enhanced
control. I was curious to find out what temp those that have PID'd Silvias
are pulling at? I'm currently set at 231.5 F.

Brian,
I am at 104 C (about 219 F), which I obtained by jamming a foam cup
under the showerhead, with a thermocouple bead probe stuck in the side
(hold it with a towel if you do this). This gives me an average water
temp of 93 C. I raise it to 105 C for my before-work shots where the
machine doesn't have much time to warm up.
There are a lot of variables that affect your set point, like
controller calibration, thermocouple placement etc, so it's best to
measure the shot temperature in your individual system.

No, I got mine on ebay. Actually, I got two for about $80. I think that
one of the reasons I got such a great deal was that they were listed as
Celsius units. In actuality, Celsius or Fahrenheit readout is manipulated
via a simple program change. I also used my new Dremel and did the install
in the face plate, rather than side-mounting in a project box. While I had
it opened up, I went ahead a replaced the boiler gasket, group gasket, and
steam valve gaskets. Silvia's working better than ever. It is wonderful to
walk up and pull a shot without counting seconds and constantly temp
surfing.
