Topic: My first SM roast (4 msgs / 84 lines)
1) From: Marci Morey
I received my first sample pack from Sweet Marias this week and roasted my first batch yesterday. Drinking it now because I just couldn't wait any longer and boy howdy is it yummy!

I'm definitely on that slippery slope and have my eye on a few things I'd like to get but being a single mom with no support from my ex keeps me frugal out of necessity. That's ok though because it means that by the time I save for what I want, I've had the time to research it well (at least that's what I keep telling myself lol).

Well, I'm off to make another cup and heading back to lurk and read and laugh and absorb the info mode.

Marci,
That's just not fair ...
How did you do? Popper, right? What did you roast? How does it taste?
What are you looking forward to procuring?
Inquiring minds ...

Well, as I tell my kiddos when they complain about 'fair' "Life's not fair, might as well get used to it now and figure out how to adjust"

Yes, popper. I wanted to take it outside but it was too cold so I roasted by an open window. Quite the mess, but also fun. I'm drinking Guatemala Quiche - La Perla Estate and I'm not sure how to describe the flavor other than the best I've ever had lol. My 15 yr old just woke up and asked if there was coffee available. "Only the best you've ever had, taste this!" "Wow, that's actually good" High compliment from this boy. He's finishing off the pot and it looks like I'll be brewing again soon.

What do I want?... The first is a French Press. I had one and my daughter took it with her to college. Debating if I should go to Ikea and get a cheap one or save just a little longer and get a Bodum. And daughter needs a mill of some sort so trying to decide if I get her the $20 one from SM or save awhile and upgrade mine and give her my current one (it's a Melita burr grinder at least 5 years old that hasn't had quite daily use but several times a week). Beyond that I'm trying not to let myself dream too much.

  Thanks for asking!
