Topic: Hand grinder (22 lines)

I was not clear in my previous post with my "meat grinder" type mill. A
trip to the basement reveals it to be a Spong & Co. No. 1. A Google
check says it is probably worth a good part of $100.00. I dusted it
off, evicted a spider and gave it a whirl. It produced a very
consistent grind, even Fine. I made a cup of Panama Los Lajones, my
current roast, and it was simply great. Here is a web site should
anyone want more information about Spong & Co., London. http://www.coffeehouseinc.com/solditems.htmIf there is anything negative about this simple device it is that you
have to crank it by hand. Slow. No chance of overheating! If you are
retired....what the hell....lots of time. If there was a catch tray
with this machine it has gone but a fold of aluminum foil serves well.
Few replies about the Cuisinart grinder. Surprising since it is widely
sold. Bernard
